An automisnomer is a misnomer that is applied to either oneself or one's group.
The term "automisnomer" was inspired by the semi-pagan cult that is called "Orthodox Kemetism".
That group exemplifies an automisnomer, because it is very different from the actual orthodox reconstructionist Kemetism,
because it incorporates various major new and unrelated elements, and excludes much of the original Kemetism.
One of the most extreme examples of an automisnomer is the Democratic People's Republic of Korea,
because it is not at all democratic, not at all a republic, and not at all of the people.
