Sekhmet is the goddess of the sun, war, destruction, plagues and healing. She is a fierce warrior goddess often portrayed with the head of a lioness. She was created by the fire of Ra's eye. Ra created her as a weapon of vengence to destroy men for their wicked ways and disobedience to him. Her brother and husband is Ptah, the god of creation and wisdom. Her son is Nefertum, the god of sunrise. Her many titles included, "Mistress of Dread", "Lady of Slaughter" and "She Who Mauls".
