A wiki (pronounced wick-ee) is a website that allows users to add content, as on an internet forum, but also allows anyone to edit the content. The word "wiki" was taken from the Hawaiian term "wiki wiki", which means "quick" or "super-fast", because the content of articles can be changed quickly.
The word "wiki" sometimes also refers to the collaborative software that is used to create such a website, as in the term "MediaWiki".
The first-ever wiki was the Portland Pattern Repository.
